If any question on this site brought up something difficult, these are places to start. Most are free, and many offer some level of confidentiality check the specific service for how it works where you are.

Feeling low or in crisis US

Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), available 24/7 across the United States. You don't need to be in immediate danger to call it's there for anything that feels too heavy to sit with alone.

Feeling low or in crisis UK

Call Samaritans free on 116 123, any time, day or night. Calls don't show up on phone bills, and you don't need a specific reason to ring.

Ongoing stress, sleep, or relationship strain

A GP or family doctor is usually the fastest route to a referral, and many workplaces and universities offer free short-term counselling you may not know you have access to.

Supporting someone else

If you're worried about a friend or family member rather than yourself, both 988 and Samaritans will also talk to you about how to approach the conversation and what to watch for.

Outside the US or UK, search online for your country's crisis line or suicide prevention helpline to find a number that covers where you are. If you're in immediate danger, contact local emergency services directly.
